What is a Spey Clave

The Sandy River Spey Clave started in 2001 by Mark Bachmann and Patty Barnes, with the vision to bring anglers together to talk about fly-fishing, conservation and exchange information on spey casting. This event has brought people to Oregon from Idaho, Montana, California, Canada and beyond but it ended in 2020. In 2025 Mia and Marty who owns Little Creek Outfitters, had the vision to bring back the Clave. With the support of the on-line magazine, Swing the Fly and over 40 exsibiors from the industry, the clave was a success!

This event is for all people to come together to cast a two handed rods, talk to industry professionals and guides about spey casting and fishing, and meet new people, to build a community of stewards for our rivers and fish.

Get our there, have fun and cast far!
